Emotional Eating
Emotional eating is the consumption of food in response to emotions rather than physical hunger. When someone eats based on their emotions, it can lead to eating too much or too little, and can lead to unhealthy eating habits. Emotional eating is a significant problem as it increases the risk of developing obesity, eating disorders, and other mental health issues. Research suggests that effective strategies to reduce emotional eating include increased physical activity, cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness-based eating, and other self-regulatory practices. Being aware of emotions and developing strategies to manage them can help reduce the risk associated with emotional eating.
