Eating Competence
Eating competence is the ability of an individual to choose, access and consume foods that are nutritionally balanced and socially acceptable. It is significantly correlated with one’s overall health, allowing for better physical and psychological wellbeing. Eating competence is a necessary skill in order to have access to a healthy diet, which is a cornerstone for a healthy life. It facilitates the ability to make accurate health decisions and allows people to enjoy the pleasure of eating and promote positive attitudes towards food. Eating competence can be fostered in an individual by providing knowledge and strategies, to ensure an appropriate and balanced diet.
