Eating Behaviors
Eating behaviors are a set of learned and unconscious behaviors that are related to the consumption of food. They can have significant effects on physical and mental health and therefore should be studied and managed in order to promote a healthy lifestyle. Eating behaviors can be influenced by emotions, social and cultural environments, and genetics as well as individual choices. Eating behaviors have implications for body weight and composition, overall nutrition, and risk for chronic diseases such as obesity, high blood pressure, and diabetes. Eating behaviors can also influence psychological wellbeing and social relationships. Research on eating behaviors can help inform nutrition policies, public health initiatives, and interventions to promote healthy eating.
