Disordered Weight Control Behaviors
Disordered weight control behaviors (DWCBs) refer to a range of behaviors that are undertaken in an attempt to control body weight, shape, and size. These behaviors are often unhealthy and can have an adverse impact on both physical and mental health. Examples of DWCBs include extreme dieting, excessive exercise, purging, fasting, and the use of diet pills or other supplements. DWCBs are associated with an increased risk of physical and mental health issues, such as eating disorders, depression, and anxiety. Additionally, they can lead to disordered eating and difficulty with regulating body weight. Recognizing and intervening in DWCBs is important in order to promote a healthy lifestyle and reduce the adverse health implications associated with these behaviors.
