Cardiovascular Disease
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a term encompassing a range of diseases that affect the heart and blood vessels, including coronary heart disease, angina, heart attack, stroke, congestive heart failure and congenital heart defects. It is the leading cause of death in the world, responsible for 17.9 million deaths annually. CVD is preventable and treatable, and risk can be reduced through lifestyle changes such as quitting smoking, exercising regularly, and eating a healthy diet. Early detection and management of CVD can significantly improve outcomes, and can help to reduce the global health burden.
