Body Weight Regulation in Clinical Populations
Weight regulation is an important aspect of a person's physical and emotional health. In clinical populations, body weight regulation has been studied in order to determine how to identify and manage overweight and obesity, which are associated with an increased risk of many chronic diseases. The regulation of body weight can be affected by external factors such as environment and family influences, as well as internal factors such as hormones, genetics and metabolism. Weight management strategies must take environmental and genetic factors into account in order to be successful. Research into body weight regulation in clinical populations can help to develop treatments, preventative measures and interventions to improve health and reduce the risks associated with obesity.
