Inflammation

Inflammation is a response by our immune system to protect against infection, injury and illness. It involves swelling, pain, redness, and heat in the affected area. Many diseases and conditions such as arthritis, bronchitis, appendicitis, and some cancers are caused by inflammation. Treatments for inflammation range from medications, such as anti-inflammatory drugs, to lifestyle changes, such as diet modification and exercise. By recognizing the signs of inflammation, and understanding its causes and treatments, we can better protect our bodies from inflammatory diseases.
