Cytoskeleton
The cytoskeleton is a network of proteins found in cells that play a vital role in maintaining cell shape, movement, and division. It is also essential for many other cellular processes, including cell growth, communication, and responses to environmental stimuli. The cytoskeleton is composed of three main structural elements: microtubules, intermediate filaments, and actin filaments. By providing structure and support, the cytoskeleton helps organize the cell’s contents and enables it to respond to its environment. It is thus a key component of the cell's internal life, and its importance to a healthy cell is indisputable.
