Long Covid
Long Covid is a condition that can affect people for weeks or even months after they have recovered from Covid-19. It is also known as Post-Acute Sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 Infection (PASC). Those who have suffered with Long Covid report experiencing a range of symptoms such as fatigue, chronic pain, brain fog, headaches, shortness of breath, and loss of smell and taste. The long-term effects of Covid-19 are still being studied, but evidence suggests that Long Covid can affect people of all ages and health backgrounds. It is unclear why some individuals suffer from Long Covid while others recover quickly. Experts speculate that it could be due to how the immune system responds to the virus or the severity of the initial illness. Long Covid can have a significant impact on an individual’s quality of life and ability to work or perform day-to-day tasks. Therefore, it is important for healthcare providers to recognize the condition and provide proper care and support to those who are affected by it. Additionally, research is ongoing to determine effective treatments for Long Covid and to understand the underlying mechanisms of the condition. The International Journal of Coronaviruses aims to serve as a platform for the dissemination of research about Long Covid and other aspects of Covid-19. Continued research and understanding of this condition will be crucial in preventing and managing long-term consequences of the pandemic.
