Herd Immunity
Herd immunity refers to a scenario where the majority of a population is immune to a particular virus, either through vaccination or prior exposure. Furthermore, the severity of illness and the risk of death were highly variable, making it difficult to predict how many people might need to be infected before herd immunity could be achieved. Instead, the focus has shifted to achieving herd immunity through vaccination. The COVID-19 vaccines are highly effective at preventing illness and reducing transmission, making them an essential tool for controlling the pandemic. By vaccinating as many people as possible, we can reduce the spread of the virus and protect the most vulnerable members of society. In conclusion, herd immunity is an essential concept for controlling the spread of viruses like COVID-19. However, achieving it through widespread infection is not a viable strategy.
