Systemic Acquired Resistance

(SAR) Systemic Acquired Resistance (SAR) is the plant's ability to use its defense mechanisms against disease-causing organisms after a localized immune response. This form of passive immunity protects the entire plant from infections and infestations that may be caused by pathogens like viruses and bacteria. SAR can be induced naturally by the plant itself, or it can be induced by a variety of methods used in agriculture, such as the application of chemical pesticides or immune system-inducing agents. In addition, SAR can be used to limit the impact of some plant diseases, increase crop yield, reduce pesticide use and improve environmental sustainability. SAR improves the overall health of plants, thereby improving the quality of food produced and the safety of those consuming it.
