Pseudonocardia

Pseudonocardia is a genus of antibiotic producing actinobacteria that is found in a variety of environments, particularly in soil. Its significance lies in the metabolic pathways it contains, which enables it to produce a wide range of biologically active compounds such as antibiotics, antifungal compounds, sesquiterpenes and other compounds with possible pharmaceutical applications. Through research, Pseudonocardia has been found to be an important source for novel bioactive compounds that can be used in the development of novel drugs for the treatment of various diseases. It also has potential applications in bioremediation, organic synthesis and bioprocessing.
