Peptones
Peptones are water-soluble proteins that are produced when proteins are broken down by enzymatic hydrolysis. They are an important source of nitrogen for bacterial growth and can be used as a nutritional supplement for livestock and humans. Peptones are also used by biochemists to study the structure and function of proteins, as well as to develop new medicines. In addition, they are used in food processing as flavor enhancers and emulsifiers. Peptones are essential components in many analytical procedures such as chromatography, electrophoresis, and amino acid analyses.
