Pathogens
Pathogens are microorganisms that cause disease in other living organisms. They are typically bacteria, viruses, fungi, or parasites. Pathogens can spread from person to person, cause food and waterborne illnesses, or be transmitted by insects. They are responsible for a wide range of illnesses and serious chronic infections, including the flu, food poisoning, HIV/AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis. Pathogens can be controlled through quarantine, sanitation, and other measures, such as vaccinations, that help protect the health of both individuals and communities.
