Pathogenesis

Pathogenesis is the process by which disease or injury develops. It involves the complex interaction between the agent causing the disease (e.g. bacteria, virus, fungus, drug) and the body's defence mechanisms, leading to the development of signs, symptoms, and other manifestations of the disease. Pathogenesis plays an essential role in the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of diseases, and has implications for preventive health strategies. Understanding the mechanisms of pathogenesis can help identify factors contributing to the disease and illuminate new therapeutic strategies. It is a critical area of research for advancing the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
