Microbial Mutation
Microbial mutation is the genetic alteration of microorganisms that occurs spontaneously or is induced by environmental factors such as chemicals or radiation. These modifications can occur within the organism’s DNA and can have widespread implications for its phenotypic characteristics. As a result, microbial mutation can often be used to develop new strains of bacteria and fungi that are more resistant to antibiotics and other treatments. It also has many applications in biotechnology and genetic engineering, including creating new strains of plants and animals with desired traits. Furthermore, mutagenesis can be used to investigate mechanisms of genetic inheritance or the impact of certain environmental factors on cells.
