Immunoprecipitation
Immunoprecipitation is a technique used to isolate proteins or other molecules from complex biological material. It involves using an antibody against a specific molecule to bind it to a solid matrix, such as agarose beads, thus separating it from other components of the biological material. This technique is important for studying the structure, function, and interactions of proteins in various biological processes, such as signal transduction pathways and biochemical pathways. In addition, immunoprecipitation can be used in protein purification and for diagnostics, such as to detect the presence of specific antigens.
