Haplotypes

Haplotypes are segments of the genome that are inherited together, and are often used in population genetics to study the evolutionary history of a species. They are especially useful for studying mutations and genetic variation between individuals of the same species. Haplotype analysis is also used in medical genetics to identify potential genetic causes of diseases, as well as to determine the likelihood of disease transmission between family members. In this way, haplotypes can be used to help inform medical decisions and improve public health.
