Brucellosis
Brucellosis is an infectious disease caused by bacteria belonging to the genus Brucella. It is mainly seen in domestic and wild animals, but can also affect humans. Brucellosis can cause fever, joint pain, fatigue, and in some cases organ damage. In animals, it can cause reduced milk production, infertility, and abortion. It is most often spread through ingestion of unpasteurized milk or contaminated meat, or through direct contact with infected animals. Vaccines are available to prevent Brucellosis in domestic animals, and antibiotic treatment is available for both animals and humans. Brucellosis can have a significant economic impact, mainly due to the loss of production in infected livestock and the cost of prevention and control.
