Bacterial Meningitis

Bacterial Meningitis is an infection of the protective membranes (meninges) that surround the brain and spinal cord. It is caused by bacteria entering the bloodstream and travelling to the meninges. Symptoms include severe headache, neck stiffness, fever, and vomiting. Without prompt treatment, bacterial meningitis can cause serious health complications, such as brain damage, hearing loss, and learning disabilities. It can also be fatal. Early diagnosis and treatment are essential for a successful outcome. Treatment usually involves antibiotics and sometimes other medications. Bacterial Meningitis is a serious and potentially life-threatening condition that requires urgent medical attention.
