Archaeal Taxonomy is the study of different types of Archaea, a domain of extremophilic single-celled organisms. Archaea are invaluable in helping us understand the origin and evolution of life on Earth. They are also used for biotechnological applications such as the production of biofuels and to explore the potential for medicine and industry in harsh environments. Archaea represent an important and diverse group of microorganisms that are essential for life, environmental health and industry. Consequently, the correct classification and identification of Archaea is essential in order to will help us better understand their biology and facilitate the application of Archaea in biotechnology.
