Chemotherapy for Head and Neck Cancers
Chemotherapy is a form of cancer treatment that uses drugs to kill cancer cells. It is used to treat many types of cancer, including head and neck cancers. The drugs used in chemotherapy for head and neck cancer are designed to attack the rapidly growing cancer cells and help reduce the size of the tumor, with the goal of making it easier for surgery or radiation to be used in combination to rid the body of the cancer. Chemotherapy can also be used alone to treat the cancer if surgery and/or radiation are not possible due to the location of the tumor or other factors. Due to the potential success of chemotherapy as part of a cancer treatment plan, it is an important tool in the fight against head and neck cancers.
