Chemotherapy for Gastrointestinal Tumors
Chemotherapy is the use of certain drugs to destroy cancer cells. It is an important treatment for gastrointestinal tumors. These tumors can occur anywhere in the digestive system, including the stomach, esophagus, small intestine, large intestine, rectum, and anus. Chemotherapy can be used to shrink the tumor, slow its growth, or stop it from spreading to other parts of the body. It may also be used when surgery is not possible. Side effects may include hair loss, fatigue, and nausea, but manageability and effectiveness will vary from person to person.
