Tight Junctions
Tight junctions, also known as occluding junctions, are a type of junctional complex found between the plasma membranes of two adjacent cells. They are the most effective type of junctional complex at preventing the movement of molecules and ions between cells, and play an important role in tissue and organ homeostasis, allowing for the maintenance of different cellular environments. They are also involved in maintaining healthy organelle to organelle connections. Tight junctions are often used in a variety of research and biomedical applications, including immunofluorescence and microscopy, gene expression studies, and more.
