Telomere Length

Telomeres are repetitive segments of DNA located at the ends of chromosomes in cells. They play a critical role in keeping the integrity of the cell's genome by protecting the end of each chromosome during DNA replication, thus preventing the loss of genetic information. Telomere length is an important indicator of the health of an organism, as telomere length has been linked to increased risks of cardiovascular diseases and accelerated aging. Additionally, telomere length can be used to predict the lifespan of an organism and it can also be used to study the effects of lifestyle and environment on an organism's health.
