Oogenesis

Oogenesis is the process of female gamete (egg) production in the body. During oogenesis, the egg develops in a process that includes both growth and maturation. Oogenesis is essential for reproduction since it is the step in which a viable egg is created so that it can be fertilized by a sperm. In humans, oogenesis begins during fetal development and continues throughout an individual's lifespan. Oogenesis is also critical for maintaining genetic diversity and can lead to increased fertility by providing more eggs for fertilization. It is a vital process for the survival of a species.
