Lipid Metabolism
Lipid metabolism is the process through which lipids (fats and oils) are broken down for energy and for the production of important biological molecules. Lipid metabolism is also responsible for the transport, storage and utilization of fatty acids and glycerides, as well as the production of hormones and cell membranes. Lipids are an essential part of our daily diet, and their metabolism is crucial for the maintenance of health and well-being. Defects in the metabolism of lipids can lead to disease, and proper regulation of lipid metabolism is necessary for optimal health. Lipid metabolism plays an important role in metabolism of other macronutrients, such as carbohydrates and proteins, and has implications for energy balance in the body.
