Env Genes
Env genes are genes that encode the envelope-associated proteins of a virus. These proteins play an important role in the virus life cycle by allowing the virus to attach to the host cell, enter the cell, and replicate. Env genes are thus important for the study of viral pathogenesis and development of antiviral treatments. They can also be used as biomarkers for monitoring viruses in a given environment, helping to understand their prevalence and transmission patterns.
