Cell Mechanics
Cell Mechanics refers to the study of the physical properties and behavior of cells, especially as they relate to how they function. It is an interdisciplinary field at the intersection of cell biology, physics, engineering, and biophysics. By applying physical principles and tools, cell mechanics provides a mechanistic understanding of the physical basis for various cellular functions. This understanding can be used to develop diagnostic tools, new treatments and technologies to better study and ameliorate maladies such as cancer, heart diseases, diabetes, and even aging.
