293t Cells
293t cells are a type of human embryonic kidney cell line derived from a termination of pregnancy fetus in 1975. They are commonly used for research by scientists due to their ability to not only propagate easily, but also to allow for genetic manipulation of a given cell. 293T cells have been used in a variety of studies ranging from human disease modeling to drug discovery and development. Additionally, these cells are essential for gene therapy, as they are able to stably express a variety of genes. As such, 293T cells have become a standard laboratory tool in a wide scope of biological research and have proved invaluable to the scientific community.
