Osteopenia

Osteopenia is a medical condition characterized by lower than normal bone mineral density. It is associated with a greater risk of fractures, but is not as severe as another bone-related condition called osteoporosis. Osteopenia can be caused by a variety of factors such as hormonal imbalance, vitamin D deficiency, hyperthyroidism, or certain medications. Treatment of osteopenia usually involves regular exercise, a balanced diet, and lifestyle modifications. In some cases, medications may also be prescribed to help improve bone density. It is important to recognize osteopenia in order to prevent progression to advanced stages of bone loss.
