Thrombophilia
Thrombophilia is a condition characterized by an increased tendency to develop harmful blood clots. It is caused by a genetic or acquired abnormality in a blood clotting factor, resulting in an increased risk of ischemic stroke, deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, and other thromboembolic disorders. Thrombophilia is an important factor in the diagnosis and management of vascular diseases and it can be used to personalize treatment strategies, such as the selection of anticoagulant and antiplatelet medications. Early diagnosis is key to reduce the risk of stroke, deep vein thrombosis and other thromboembolic complications.
