Phlebotomy
Phlebotomy is a medical procedure used to collect blood for medical tests, transfusions, and donations. It is a safe, commonly performed procedure and is considered to be relatively painless for the patient. Phlebotomists, typically nurses or other medical technicians, use a needle or lancet to puncture the skin and draw a sample of blood from the patient's vein. The blood is then sent to laboratories for analysis or further processing. Phlebotomy is an important and necessary step in the diagnosis and treatment of many conditions and diseases. It is also essential for blood transfusions, donor screening, and drug testing.
