Blood Serum
Blood serum is a yellowish, liquid component of blood that is obtained after the blood has been allowed to clot. Serum contains a variety of proteins and other substances, including antibodies, hormones, enzymes and nutrients, that help maintain homeostasis and protect against disease. It is often used to diagnose and treat infections, to monitor health conditions, and to analyze blood proteins or proteins found in bodily fluids. Serum is also essential for producing lifesaving drugs and vaccines, as it can be used to grow cultures of bacteria and viruses for testing.
