Antiphospholipid Syndrome
Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is an autoimmune disorder that occurs when the body produces antibodies that mistakenly attack proteins in the blood. These autoantibodies cause an increase in blood clotting, which can lead to an increased risk of blood clots, strokes, and pregnancy-related complications. Treatment options include anticoagulants, antiplatelet medications, and immunosuppressants. The early diagnosis and treatment of APS is important in order to prevent serious complications, such as organ damage and death.
