Pharmacoeconomics
Pharmacoeconomics is the study of how to make the best use of pharmaceuticals to provide the most value in terms of improving health outcomes and reducing costs. It is an interdisciplinary field, requiring understanding of both economic and medical principles. This approach has implications for how new treatments are developed, how healthcare resources are allocated, how drug access is managed, and the effects of changes in public policy on drug use. Pharmacoeconomic evaluations provide important information to help decision-makers prioritize health interventions, set appropriate reimbursement and access policies, and identify opportunities for cost savings.
