Enzyme Technology
Enzyme technology is a branch of biotechnology that utilizes enzymes—biological molecules that catalyze and speed up chemical reactions—to develop products and processes that solve problems in the chemical, pharmaceutical, food, and other industries. Enzymes are valuable for their high specificity and marketable qualities, such as their ease of use, cost-effectiveness, and ability to increase production productivity. Enzyme technology has widespread applications, from food manufacturing to energy research. Enzymes are used to produce food ingredients such as flavorings, sweeteners, and preservatives; to optimize the production of biofuels; to develop bioremediation solutions; and even to create greener laundry detergents. The potential for enzyme technology is vast, giving researchers and companies the opportunity to discover innovative solutions to the world's most pressing problems.
