Chemical Engineering
Chemical engineering is a branch of engineering dealing with chemical processes and transformations used for the production of materials, energy and services. It involves the application of principles from chemistry, physics and mathematics to design, develop and operate processes and systems that transform materials and energy into useful products. Chemical engineering has become a major driving force in the development of new products and technologies, such as those related to renewable energy, biotechnology, nanotechnology, and the production of new materials with customized properties. Chemical engineers are responsible for designing, developing, improving and overseeing the operation of equipment such as reactors, distillation columns, pumps and valves. They also play an important role in the development of new processes and products, as well as environmental protection.
