Ambulatory Care Pharmacy
Ambulatory care pharmacy is the practice of pharmacy that focuses on providing medication and health care services to patients outside of an inpatient hospital setting. Ambulatory care pharmacy addresses the unique needs of patients by helping them make informed decisions about their health and medications. This type of pharmacy is beneficial to many, including seniors, those with disabilities, and people with chronic illnesses who need ongoing care and support. Ambulatory care pharmacists are also responsible for managing medication inventories, providing medication education and counseling, and ensuring patient safety. The role of ambulatory care pharmacy is becoming increasingly important as health care systems move toward an integrated care model and emphasize quality-focused care.
