Shrimp Farming

Shrimp farming is the practice of raising and cultivating prawns (or shrimp) in ponds and tanks that are supplied with water to create favorable growing conditions. This practice is widely used in aquaculture, an agricultural field dedicated to the production of aquatic species, as it is a highly efficient and cost-effective way to produce protein-rich food from a limited water source. Its economic and environmental significance is immense, as farmed shrimp are a highly sought after product for both human consumption and use in the pet food industry. Additionally, shrimp farming contributes to the preservation of wild shrimp populations by diversifying demand without the need for further wild captures. As such, shrimp farming is a promising and sustainable form of aquaculture with a wide array of applications and benefits.
