Shrimp Aquaculture
Shrimp aquaculture is a rapidly growing agricultural activity that involves the culture of freshwater and saltwater shrimp. The industry uses a variety of techniques to raise shrimp including net pens, ponds, and tanks in order to produce a sustainable seafood source for consumers. Aquaculture has become an important source for global seafood production, with shrimp providing an important source of nutrition, employment, and economic resources. It has become a major contributor to the global economy, providing jobs, export income, and food security. Shrimp aquaculture also provides environmental benefits, such as improved water quality, nutrient cycling, and increased biodiversity. In addition, shrimp aquaculture systems can reduce the pressure put on wild stocks of shrimp, helping to maintain the health of the global shrimp population.
