Ocean Engineering

Ocean engineering is a field of engineering that applies principles of engineering, mathematics, physics, and other sciences to design, construct, and maintain systems within or related to the ocean environment. Ocean engineering focuses on the development of new technologies and solutions to solve problems in oceanography, navigation, ocean industries, and coastal management, to ensure that their use is safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly. It encompasses activities such as exploration, resource extraction, design, development, and production of ocean systems and devices, and the management of these processes to ensure their long-term sustainability. Applications of ocean engineering include offshore oil and gas extraction, offshore wind energy production, marine vessel design, ocean instrumentation, and ocean mapping. Ocean engineering has become an increasingly important field as the global economy increasingly relies on the economic activity and resources provided by the ocean.
