Mussels are an important source of food for many people around the world, so aquaculturing them is valuable for the global community. Mussel aquaculture is an environmentally-friendly and sustainable means of producing the seafood and has numerous other benefits, such as providing jobs that help coastal communities and reducing pressure on wild fisheries. It can also help to improve water quality by filtering out pollutants and providing a natural habitat and food source for other aquatic species.
