Marine Organisms

Marine organisms are lifeforms that exist in the ocean, including plants, animals and bacteria. Marine life is essential to the health of the planet. Its diversity produces oxygen, absorbs carbon dioxide, and drives global cycles including nutrient, temperature and water cycles. Marine life is also a key source of food, livelihoods and economic opportunities for people all over the world. Due to threats from climate change, overfishing, habitat destruction, and pollution, marine organisms are under increasing pressure and the health of our oceans and marine life is at risk. By protecting the ocean and its marine life, we can ensure that its many benefits to the planet and people are maintained.
