Marine Aquaculture

Marine aquaculture is the farming of aquatic organisms, such as fish, shellfish, and seaweed, in marine waters. It is a type of aquaculture, or water-based farming, that is carried out in the ocean, estuaries, and other marine environments. Marine aquaculture offers a sustainable, efficient, and profitable method of seafood production, that can help satisfy the growing global demand for seafood. Additionally, marine aquaculture has the potential to help restore wild fish populations and marine ecosystems by providing a renewable source of seafood that is produced with responsible environmental practices, such as fish and shellfish stocking, and the management of marine habitats. Not only can marine aquaculture serve as a source of food, it also provides various additional benefits, such as economic development, jobs, and the promotion of tourism and coastal communities.
