Geoduck Aquaculture
Geoduck aquaculture is the process of raising and farming geoduck clams in an organized system in order to obtain an increased harvest of the popular delicacy. This method of aquaculture offers a sustainable and profitable means of obtaining a reliable supply of geoducks, while also preserving wild stocks. Geoduck aquaculture has been embraced as a viable method of seafood production in several countries, and is particularly popular in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States and Canada. The harvest of farmed geoducks, along with their wild counterparts, provide a valuable source of income and a healthy, low-fat, low-calorie food choice. Geoduck aquaculture also provides an excellent method of restoring the environment in areas that have been negatively impacted by overfishing or habitat destruction.
