Freshwater Prawn Farming
Freshwater prawn farming or aquaculture is a fisheries practice where freshwater prawns are raised in a controlled environment. It has become an economically important form of farming in many parts of the world, providing a reliable source of fresh seafood. Freshwater prawn farming is often an environmentally friendly option for seafood production, as the ponds used for farming are self-contained and require minimal inputs from the environment. Freshwater prawns are also a healthy choice for seafood consumers, as they are low in fat and nutrients like vitamin B12, phosphorus, and omega-3 fatty acids. Freshwater prawns can also be used for aquaponic systems, where waste from the prawns is used to fertilize vegetables, creating a more sustainable form of farming.
