Coastal Aquaculture

Coastal aquaculture is a form of aquaculture that involves raising aquatic plants and animals in close proximity to the shore, typically within lagoons, estuaries, and other shallow, coastal areas. Coastal aquaculture is an important and highly productive form of food production, enabling efficient and sustainable seafood production. It is a practice that is beneficial to both the environment and the local economy, and is becoming increasingly important as a source of protein in many regions of the world. Coastal aquaculture is used to produce a wide range of seafood products, including oysters, clams, shrimp, tilapia, and other finfish. It can also be used to help restore wild stocks of fish and shellfish, through the stocking of juvenile fish and shellfish and other forms of reseeding.
