Best Aquaculture Practices

Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) is an international certification program that promotes responsible aquaculture operations and sustainability. BAP standards are based on environmental and social responsibility, best practices in aquaculture management, and food safety assurance. BAP certification is the largest certification program in the aquaculture industry and covers the production of farmed finfish, crustaceans, and mollusks in a socially and environmentally responsible manner. BAP certification encourages the production and consumption of sustainably farmed seafood while helping to support responsible aquaculture operations, food safety, and consumer protection. The standards of BAP certification are applied throughout the entire production chain, including hatcheries, fish farms, feed mills, processing plants, and retailers. BAP certification helps to ensure that farmed seafood products are of high quality, safe for consumption, and produced in an environmentally sound manner.
