Aquavoltaics
Aquavoltaics is a new and promising field of clean energy production that combines solar power and aquaculture. Aquavoltaics involves the use of floating photovoltaic (PV) panels on freshwater bodies such as lakes, ponds, reservoirs, irrigation canals, and rivers. These floating PV panels absorb the sun’s energy through normal solar irradiation, which is then converted into electricity and used to power water pumps, providing oxygenation and water recirculation to improve the water quality of aquaculture systems. In addition to generating clean energy, aquavoltaics can be used to reduce water loss due to evaporation and helps to reduce water temperature. This has the dual benefit of raising production yields and improving fish health. Aquavoltaics is an innovative and sustainable energy production method that provides a valuable source of renewable energy and could revolutionize the aquaculture industry worldwide.
